What is Foundry grade chromite sand?

There are several grades of chromite sand in the world, such as 35% Cr2O3 Chromite sand, 43% Cr2O3 Chromite sand, 46% Cr2O3 Chromite sand. The Foundry grade chromite sand have to meet the requirement as follows:

Requirements for chromium content:

In the past, Cr2O3 45% and 35% of two grades of chromite sand belong to the category of chromite for foundry. In recent years, only 46% or more of C2O3 content is retained as the foundry level chromite sand.

The AFS grit size (average fineness)  :

The particle size distribution of chromite sand has to be in line with the fineness defined by AFS, not only simple particle size but also fineness value with proper particle distribution is needed.

Quality inspection:

It required testing for the chemical composition, refractoriness, water content, and particle size composition of chromite sand for casting. In the meantime, it requires testing for acid consumption and mud content.

In short, the foundry-grade Chromite sand is of higher quality than ordinary Chromite ore.

Since the establishment of the Haixu chromite sand factory, the quality standards have been in line with international standards. The production in HAIXU meets the requirements of large foundry manufacturers in local China. Thus, it is better than the chromite sand directly imported from South Africa.

With low SiO2 and low impurity, the foundry grade chromite sand from HAIXU can significantly improve the acceptance rate of castings and has received affirmation and praise from customers in Southeast Asia, Europe, and East Asia.
