Chromite sand AFS45-55 is a commonly used model in sand casting. Its particle size meets the requirements of AFS Foundry Association. However, in practical applications, the ratio of fine powder under a 100 mesh sieve has a significant impact on the performance of casting sand. In the quality control process of casting grade chromite sand, 4-5 mesh screens are usually used for particle size distribution testing. The particles screened below 100 mesh and above 140 mesh are not further sorted. Recently, a customer has special requirements for the particle size of AFS45-55. Our lab conducted further tests on the particles under 140 mesh, 200 mesh, and 270 mesh sieves. The following are the test results:

46% Cr2O3 Iron chromite powder 325# is produced using fine grinding technology to get fine Ferro Chromite flour. Its raw materials are chrome ore sand imported from South Africa and Zimbabwe. When chrome ore sand is ground to 325 mesh, its chromium oxide purity will decrease by 0.1-0.2%. In our factory,  we can ensure 325# chromite powder Cr2O3 content 46% by adding high-grade 48-50% chromite sand.

Chromite powder is made by crushing and grinding natural chromite ore, which has a glossy black color. As the material is ground, more chromium and iron elements in the chromium ore are released, which has a significant impact on the color.

Foundry grade chromite sand is a type of casting surface sand that is resistant to high temperatures, has strong thermal conductivity, and dissipates heat quickly. Chromite sand AFS40-45 is an superior chill material for large and extra large castings to replace iron chills. Placing chromite ore sand AFS 40-45 in the hot spot, corner, and riser areas works well for the castings.

For large quantities of goods, the transportation cost of bulk carriers is lower than that of containers. Recently, 500 tons Foundry Chromite sand AFS45-55 were loaded onto ships for export.
