Foundry chromite sand is popular for Iron, Metal casting process. It is featured for it’s high refractoriness, low volume expansion and high thermal conductivity.
However, as a mineral product, it is hard to judge the quality by eyes. Here we give several aspect to check the foundry chromite sand quality.
- By testing in lab. In this way, we can check the Chrominum oxide, silica, ferro and alumium oxide content. Fondry chromite sand get key index of Cr2O3 min 46% and SiO2 max 1.0%. Besisde, in lab we always test the particle size distribution and Turbidity.
- By apperance. Customer can see the apperance of chromite sand.
- High quality foundry chromite get few yellow grains Silica which can be recognized.

- Put the foundry chromite sand to water sand see the cleaness of water.
- Test the bulk density of chromite sand. Higher density means better quality.
